The Angel Project
The joy of pregnancy is one that fills a woman with wonder and longing for her unborn child or children. Unfortunately, many of these parents will leave the hospital with empty arms. Infant loss and stillbirth is prevalent in this country. About 1% of all pregnancies are stillborn, and each year about 24,000 babies are stillborn in the United States. That is about the same as the number of babies who die each year during the first year of life. It is also more than 10 times as many deaths as the number that occur from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). As a registered Nurse and professional photographer I have become dedicated to ensure that parents bearing this unimaginable loss have professional photographs of their baby to remember them by. These babies, often, never leave the hospital. I provide professional portraiture, free of charge, for these grieving families through The Angel Project, which I created, and Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a national organization that provides infant bereavement photography.
